How To Throw A Successful Toddler Party
December 31, 2009
Some cynics will say that you do not need to place a lot of stress and effort into a birthday party for a toddler. They will say that the child will hardly notice your painstaking details, and will not even remember the party later on in life. Many parents will not agree with this, and feel that it is important to throw a lovely party for their toddler. After all, they want their child and any attending parents to have a great time, with lots of lovely photos and smiles all round.
One of the first things you need to worry about is entertainment. Toddlers are easily bored, and their attention will not be held by one game for long. Hiring a magician or clown is always a nice idea, but ensure that their performance does not last longer than fifteen minutes. Hiring a jumping castle is always a great idea. Jumping castles can keep toddlers entertained for hours, and they will have a fantastic time bouncing all over the inflatable. There are many toddler friendly games, but do not fuss too much. They will mostly be happy just playing with each other, and even playing with a ball.
The next most important detail to remember is the food. Toddlers can get cranky if they are hungry, and the adults will enjoy some good eats too. Finger foods are a must for small hands, and slices of cheese, mini hot dogs, sausages and even small triangle sandwhiches. A cake is always a lovely idea, but cup cakes are usually easier eaten by small hands. Ensure a variety of drinks for the toddlers, as you do not want them getting thirsty. Some parents are strict over their young child drinking fizzy drinks, so make sure you have the option of water and fruit juice.
Decorations are not a MUST, but are always nice. Simple balloons placed around the party area will add a lot of atmosphere. Try not exhaust yourself with matching plates, cups and all the rest. The toddlers will be thrilled with a party hat depicting a theme, and will not be aware of what sort of plates they are eating off. Draping the party area in streamers can also look lovely, and will be fun for the toddlers too. But be prepared to have a lot of cleaning up to do afterwards!
